Balmoral Head Waiter wins recognition from The Restaurant Association
The Balmoral’s Head Waiter, Kuntal Murkherjee has been selected from many leading hospitality establishments in the UK to win a place in one of four heats in this year’s Young Chef Young Waiter competition run by The Restaurant Association.
23 year old Kuntal, who has worked for the Rocco Forte Collection hotel for three years, will now compete in the Scottish heat of this prestigious competition, which takes place at Adam Smith College, Fife, on 11 September 2007. Kuntal is responsible for the smooth running of The Balmoral’s Conference and Events banqueting - a department which oversees events in the hotel’s 10 function suites, sometimes looking after up to 340 guests a night for dinner. In the three years Kuntal has been at The Balmoral he has graduated from the hotel’s Management Development Programme and completed his degree in Hospitality Management from QMUC.
If Kuntal is successful at the heat, he will compete with seven other finalists in the Waiter category in London on 15th October, with the assurance that, if chosen as the winner, he will not only win £2,000, plus an unforgettable study trip to Berlin, but will also gain the status and credibility to succeed within the restaurant industry, as have many of the previous winners.
