The Balmoral's Restaurant Manager is number one
The CIS Excellence Awards, organised by the trade magazine Catering in Scotland, recognises creativity, excellence and innovation in Scotland's catering, tourism and hospitality industry. The advisory board, responsible for judging the entries, was made up of some of the leading names in the industry, including James Thomson and Andrew Fairlie.
The judges were looking for an individual who demonstrated innovation and talent in restaurant service, combined with hard work and a clear desire to enhance the reputation of the business. By winning this award Gary has been acknowledged as a firm leader in his field.
Gary Quinn came to head up the number one team nine years ago, having previously worked at The Caledonian Hotel and on Cunard cruise liners. David Cochrane, Chief Executive of HIT Scotland, who was on the judging panel commented: "Gary's contribution to developing and enhancing standards within the restaurant scene, and the work he has taken to develop individuals was recognised by all the judges. His commitment to the industry and feedback from customers showed him to be head and shoulders above his peers."
Gary Quinn, who attended the ceremony to receive his solid-bronze CIS Excellence trophy commented: "I am delighted to receive this award and to be recognised in this way by Catering in Scotland. It is a great honour to lead a team that is committed to delivering such a high level of exceptional customer service."
