The Balmoral Scoops Prestigious Training Award
The Rocco Forte Collection' The Balmoral, Edinburgh's leading hotel, scooped the prestigious Scottish Licensing Trade News Catering Training Award 2005 at a ceremony held on 26 May 2005.
As ever, the standard of entries was extremely high, but it was The Balmoral's commitment to and investment in training, which led to both increased staff retention and higher sales, that gave the hotel the winning edge.
The SLTN Catering Awards 2005 received entries from some of the most highly regarded restaurant and hospitality businesses in Scotland, alongside some of Scotland's brightest entrepreneurs. The rigorous judging process involved representatives from SLTN, sponsors and independent experts, who visited and interviewed all the short-listed candidates before the three finalists are chosen.
Commenting on the award, Debbie Taylor, General Manager of The Balmoral, said, "I am delighted to receive this Training Award as it recognises The Rocco Forte Collection' ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding service delivery through training and developing our staff across all levels. I am thrilled we have been recognised as leaders in the training and development of our staff in such a challenging industry."
The accolade joins the numerous awards that The Balmoral has received in the last six months. These include Edinburgh Hotel of the Year 2005, The Scottish Thistle Award for Customer Care - Hotel of the Year, Condé Nast Traveller's Best Urban Day Spa in the UK and Sexiest Hotel 2004.
